"Not good company"

At the bottom of page 75, Jesse tells Mama that she acknowledges the fact that she is not good company and Jesse then leads Mama to respond to this question. I believe that the line that follows is one of the most important realizations Mama does in the play and it shows that she is now willing to change her dishonest behavior with Jesse. Mama’s reply to Jesse’s question was “No and neither am I.” Mama confronts truth when she tells Jesse she is not good company and Mama accepts her failure as mother. My question then is, do these realizations come about only because of the circumstances of the night? Or are they driven by something deeper such as love and respect?
